RYA PRACTICAL COURSES                                          

 

START YACHTING 2 DAYS                               175

A short introduction to sailing for complete beginners.

By the end of the course you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board.

COMPETENT CREW 5 DAYS/3 WEEKENDS               490 (3 W/E 550)

This course is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members. Experience living on board and really get to know life on a sailing vessel.

By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day duties on board. You should also have visited some interesting places and had an enjoyable trip.

 

DAY SKIPPER 5 DAYS/3 WEEKENDS                        490 (3 W/E 550)

During this RYA day skipper tidal practical course you will cover practical navigation, pilotage, boat handling, seamanship, skippering techniques and berthing in marinas.   Students should have assumed knowledge to that of RYA Day Skipper theory.   Pre course experience should be 5 days, 100 miles, 4 night hours on board a sailing vessel.

COASTAL SKIPPER       5 DAYS/3 WEEKENDS          535 (3 W/E 590)

The RYA Coastal Skipper practical course is the natural progression from the Day Skipper course. The normal course is 5 consecutive days or 3 weekends with 4 nights on board.   Students should have theory knowledge to that of RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory and hold the RYA Day Skipper practical course completion certificate. It is also advised that a reasonable amount of sailing has been completed since the completing the RYA Day Skipper including several night passages.   After successful completion of this course students will able to skipper a sailing vessel on a coastal passage day and night.                  

 

ICC 1 DAY                                                                      150

The International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is required by most European countries (excluding the UK) as evidence of a basic level of competence. Within the RYA scheme the ICC falls just below the level of Day Skipper practical.

 

 

 

 

RYA THEORY COURSES

 

ESSENTIAL NAVIGATION AND SEAMANSHIP COURSE 2 DAYS                      150

To include:  Course notes, exercises, RYA handy plotter, electronic chart plotter voucher, practice charts, dividers and certification.

 

DAY SKIPPER                                                                                                      300

To include:  assessment papers, course notes, exercises, electronic chart plotter voucher, practice charts, certification on completion.                                                                                      

 

COASTAL SKIPPER/YACHTMASTER                                                                  300

To include:  assessment papers, course notes, exercises, electronic chart plotter voucher, practice charts, certification on completion
